A cedar cabin with a steaming hot tub and covered porch on a Blue Ridge ridge at sunset in October, two Adirondack chairs around a stone fire pit

Blue Ridge Mountains · Fairview, North Carolina

Four cabins above the morning fog.

Thirty-eight wooded acres at 3,100 feet, twenty-five minutes from downtown Asheville. Hot tubs, fire pits, fast Wi-Fi and the kind of quiet you can hear.

The hollow

We built the kind of place we wanted to find.

Wes grew up two ridges over; Dana came for a long weekend in 2009 and never really left. In 2016 we bought an overgrown tract of sourwood, hemlock and white pine off Laurel Branch Road and spent four winters building, one cabin at a time.

Each one sits on its own clearing, out of sight of the others, with a porch that faces east. Mornings, the fog fills the valley below and burns off by ten. Evenings, it’s fire pits, whip-poor-wills and more stars than you remember.

We woke up to the valley completely full of fog and drank our coffee on the porch watching it burn off. Spotless cabin, the best hot tub view we’ve had, and Dana’s brewery list was spot-on.

Megan & Chris R.Charlotte, NC · stayed in The Overlook

Laurel House was perfect for two kids and our very muddy lab. Fenced yard, toys on the porch, and the s’mores kit made us heroes.

I worked from the A-Frame for a week. Wi-Fi never dropped once, the EV charger was a lifesaver, and the wood stove at night was pure magic.

FAQ

Before you pack

Wren, our assistant, knows the cabins inside out and can check dates for you any time.

Ask Wren a question
Do we need four-wheel drive?

Not usually. The last 0.6 mile is a well-kept gravel road with a steady climb. From December to February we recommend AWD or 4WD, and we’ll text you if ice is in the forecast.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, in Laurel House or the A-Frame: $75 per dog per stay, up to two dogs. Please don’t leave them alone in the cabin. The Loft and the Overlook are pet-free for guests with allergies.

Is it good for working remotely?

Very. Every cabin has fiber Wi-Fi at around 300 Mbps and a real desk. Cell signal is patchy in the hollow, so Wi-Fi calling helps.

How far is it to Asheville?

25 minutes (about 14 miles) to downtown, 30 minutes to Asheville Regional Airport (AVL), and 18 minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The nearest grocery store is 8 minutes away in Fairview.

What’s the cancellation policy?

Full refund if you cancel 30 or more days before check-in, 50% refund at 14–29 days, and no refund inside 14 days unless we re-book your nights. If the roads are closed by snow or ice, we’ll move your stay for free.

Are the cabins good for kids?

Laurel House is our family cabin: two bedrooms, a fenced yard, a pack ’n play and a high chair. The A-Frame works for families with older kids (the loft has a steep stair). The Loft and the Overlook are set up for two adults.

Can we host a small wedding or party?

We’re sorry, no. To keep the hollow quiet for everyone, we don’t allow parties or events, and occupancy is limited to what each cabin sleeps.
